Sandra Kay Smith

Sandra Kay Smith, age 79, of Crocker, MO passed away June 29, 2022. Sandy was born February 9, 1943 in Camp Atterbury, Indiana. Daughter of the late Lloyd and Cleta (Hitchens) Roberts. Sandy was well known for her artistic talent. She was a professional artist and member of several Lake area art clubs and was President of the Eldon Art Association for a year in the late 1980's. She enjoyed sharing and teaching her love of painting to others. Several of her students went on to show their work in art exhibitions and win awards. She had a love for all animals, whether they were domestic or wild, which shown in her art work. Sandy had a passion for growing all types of plants and flowers, she could grow almost anything. She was an incredible cook and could make the best meals our of just what was on hand. Never measuring anything, just throwing it together until it tasted good to her. She was a kind and generous person, often putting her own health aside to make sure others had a warm meal or a ride to an appointment. But, her greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren whom she loved and cherished unconditionally. Sandy is survived by her five children: Penny Taylor Hankins of Kaiser, MO, Donald Taylor (Phyllis) of Tipton, MO, Connie Koechner (Tony) of Tipton, MO, Wendy Denny of Waynesville, MO and Kimberly Rambo of Crocker, MO. A brother, Tom Roberts (Karin) of Crocker, MO. Her sister, Debbie Spencer (Vince) of Jefferson City, MO and Lois Jean Cantrell (Steve) of Crocker, MO. She had 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many other family and friends. Sandy will also be missed by Cinnamon, her beloved fur baby, who had been her constant companion. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Cleta Roberts. Her brother, Billy Joe Roberts, niece, Tammy Holyfield and grandson, Sinjyn Taylor. A celebration of life will be at Concord Christian Church on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 1 p.m. with Mike Freeman officiating. Inurnment to follow with family members only. Memorial contributions will be under the direction of the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
