Sarah Josephine Sisk

Sarah Josephine Sisk, daughter of the late Robert and Sarah (Moesser) Gaddy, was born June 28, 1931 in Waynesville, North Carolina where she grew up and attended school. On September 8, 1951, Sarah was united in marriage to Jack Western Sisk, Sr. in Lockhart, South Carolina. They shared many wonderful years of marriage together and were blessed with three children: Becky, Ann and Jack Jr. Due to Jack Sr. being in the military, the family moved several times and they eventually found themselves stationed at Fort Leonard Wood. After Jack’s retirement, Sarah and the family decided to stay in the area and became involved in the community. Sarah was a hardworking woman and spent 25 years serving as a nurse’s aide. She loved helping people and taking care of them. Sarah retired from the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital. In her spare time, she enjoyed working outside in the garden, reading romance novels, cooking for her family and friends, watching Judge Judy on television, crocheting and was an animal lover. At an early age, Sarah made a profession of faith and was baptized. She loved attending church and was a member of the Buckhorn Baptist Church. Sarah passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri having attained the age of 82 years and 16 days. She will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her. Sarah leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Becky Scruggs and husband Randy of Waynesville, MO and Ann Cooper and husband Gary of Ocala, FL; two grandsons: Matthew Scruggs of Waynesville, and Paul Cooper of Ocala, FL; one granddaughter: Rene Cooper of Ocala, FL; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband: Jack W. Sisk, Sr.; one son: Jack W. Sisk, Jr.; one grandson: Phillip Cooper; and 13 brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 in the Buckhorn Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Atkins officiating. Matt and Micah Atkins sang “Thanks to Calvary”, “In the Garden” and “How Great Thou Art”. Sarah’s daughter, Becky Scruggs and grandson, Matthew recalled their wonderful memories of Sarah. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Burial followed in the Buckhorn Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sarah Sisk to the Buckhorn Cemetery Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
