Shirley Jean Carroll

Shirley Jean Carroll, the only child of the late Clyde Evertt and Bernice Uvon (Fritts) Roberts, was born April 19, 1948 in Springfield, Missouri. Her family moved to Richland where Shirley grew up, attended school and graduated with the class of 1966. She made a profession of faith at a young age and was a member of Independence Baptist Church. Shirley was married to Roger Carroll for 48 years and they were blessed with two children, Tammy and Ricky. After school Shirley began working at Fort Leonard Wood then went on to work at the H.D. Lee plant in Richland, later she went on to work as a teachers aid. Shirley was also a cook for several years at Richland school. Shirley loved children and would babysit and also clean houses. She loved her family and enjoyed taking care of them and her home. Shirley had a big smile, with a bubbly personality to go with it. She was friendly soul and had never met a stranger. Shirley always enjoyed a good laugh. Life became a struggle for Shirley as her health failed these past several years. However, she appreciated each and every visit she’d receive as they would lift her spirits. On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 10, 2024 surrounded by her family, Shirley left the struggles of this world behind having attained the age of seventy-five, and leaves behind her daughter, Tammy Maruottolo (Bill) of Milford, CT, three grandchildren: Destiny Carroll (Braden Van Kirk) of Rolla, MO, Matthew Maruottolo and Emily Maruottolo both of Milford, CT, Roger Carroll of Richland, MO, special family friend, Monica Smith of Richland, MO, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Clyde (1984) her mother, Bernice (1997), her aunts, and uncles, and beloved son, Ricky Everett Carroll (June 18, 2023). Times spent with family and friends were treasured moments to Shirley. She loved each one deeply and unconditionally. We are forever bound to Shirley by memories that will never fade; let us remember the good times and celebrate her home in the arms of God. Services were held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2024 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor Danny Graves officiating. The songs included “In the Garden” by Alan Jackson, “Take My Hand Precious Lord” by Joey and Rory, and “I Want to Stroll Over Heaven With You” by Alan Jackson were played. Serving as escorts were Bill Maruottolo, Kevin Karr, Freddy Gray, Eric Oursbourn, Jimmy Gray, and Billy Willoughby. Honorary Escorts were Matthew Maruottolo, Don Lohrman, and Braden Van Kirk. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland, Missouri. Services were under the direction and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.
