Shizuko Kelly

Shizuko Kyo Kelly, the daughter of the late Kaysabulo Ewamula and Toshiko Noyama, was born on December 22, 1937, in Osaka, Japan. She graduated from Tokyo High School with the Class of 1955. Shizuko eventually moved to the United States, becoming a proud American citizen in 1976. She made her home in the Lebanon, Missouri area and began working at H.D. Lee Factory. Shizuko was a dedicated employee, and her commitment was recognized as she took on the role of instructor in sewing and fabrication during her final years at the company. She continued working there until her retirement in 2003. On March 7, 1994, Shizuko married James Houston Kelly. Together, they shared nearly three decades of love and companionship, celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary shortly before James' passing on March 20, 2023. Their years together were filled with wonderful memories and many adventures. Shizuko found joy in sewing, crocheting, and working on various craft projects during her free time. She enjoyed trips to Branson and listening to gospel music. More than anything, she cherished moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shizuko passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Lake Regional Hospital of Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of 88. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by everyone whose lives she touched. In addition to her parents and husband, Shizuko was preceded in death by her son, Ward Lee Baker, in 1990. She is survived by her three children: Bob Baker (Brenda) of Sunrise Beach, MO; Carolyn Breeden (Craig) of Bradenton, FL; and Helen Young of Fort Myers, FL. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren—Michael, Jeremy, Eric, Zachary, Lee Jr., Christopher, Lucas, Garrett, and Tanner—fifteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Loretta Ruth of Lebanon, MO, and Veda Barnard of Springfield, MO, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Though Shizuko is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville, MO. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Shizuko Kelly and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
