Somer D. Smith

Somer Dawn Smith went into the safety of the arms of Jesus on April 8, 2011, at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, at the age of 30 years, 7 months and 4 days. Somer was born September 4, 1980 in Waynesville, Missouri. She was raised by her mother, Shelly, her step-father, Ben Sargent, and her beloved Nana Bonnie. Somer attended Laquey School with her many cousins and friends. She was the mother of Trever Dale Breedlove and Taryn Daniel Carter. She and her sons really grew up together. Her boys were the love of her life. Somer grew up in the New Friendship Baptist Church on Turkey Ridge. She loved the Lord throughout her 30 years of life. Somer was a good and devoted friend and will be missed by all those that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons: Taryn Carter and Trever Breedlove; her parents: Shelly and Ben Sargent; her father: Bobby Smith; her poppy Billy G. and Grandma Norma Jo Smith; her brother: Tozh Smith; one great aunt: Sue and Alvar Velez ; aunts and uncles: Jacki and Larry Spears, Jimmy and Joylynn Smith, Sheila Smith, and Dana and Randy Lane; special cousins: Brianne Crutchfield, Shanna Jo and Jason Taylor, Christan Spears, Amee and Chris Dumas and Jason Lester Williams; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Somer was preceded in death by her little brother Justin Rodney Gilmore, Nana Bonnie, Grandma Mary Glowinke and Aunt Nancy. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory with Rev. Christopher Hendrix officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “In the Garden” and “Serenaded By Angels”. The songs “I Can Only Imagine” and “Que Sera Sera” were played. Serving as escorts were John Smith, Tozh Smith, Jason Williams, 2LT Oren Jones, Pat Fincher, Paul Mondloch, Billy Stealy and Scott Hill. Burial followed in the Center Point Cemetery of Pulaski County, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Somer Smith and may be left at the funeral home.
