Song Hoe Kim

Song Hoe Kim, son of the late Yong Teuk Kim and Ui Ju Kim, was born April 14, 1943, in Daegu, South Korea. As a young boy, he grew up in Ueuseong Village, South Korea and attended the Andong Kim Ancestors of South Korea school. As a young man, Song faithfully served with the Republic of Korea Army. On April 23, 1971, Song was united in marriage to Pyong Nan Kim (Lee). They were blessed with three children and many wonderful years of memories together before she preceded him in death. Song and Pyong came to the United States where they raised their three children. They were very proud of them and their accomplishments. After moving to the Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri area, Song began working on the installation. He first began working as a bagger at the commissary before becoming employed with EDP Enterprises where he retired. During his spare time, Song loved to be out in nature. You could find him either fishing, foraging for mushrooms, or working in the garden. He enjoyed edible plants that he found, and he had a natural ability to fix things, whether it was cars, home projects or anything else that needed fixing. He liked to play pool as well. Song was a member of the Pulaski County Korean Association. Song treasured spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren whenever they were able to be together. Song passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 in his home having attained the age of 81 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Song leaves to cherish his memory, his three children: Hyon Suk Kim (Kwon) of Woodstock, VA, COL (Ret) Hui Chae Kim (Doris) of Lebanon, MO, and LTC (Ret) Hui Chol Kim (Heidi) of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren: Rachel Walter (Connor) of Kansas City, MO, Michelle Kim of Charlotteville, VA, Jonah Kim of Shreveport, LA and Leighanne Kim of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers: Hoi Kim (Seong Yeon) of South Korea and Deok Hoe Kim of South Korea; several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister: Melissa Kim McLeaster. Even though he is gone from our sight, Song’s commitment to family will live on in our hearts forever. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert with Chaplain (MAJ) Benjamin Reed officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Song Hoe Kim and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.
