SSG (Ret) Ronald Hansen

SSG (Ret) Ronald Hansen, son of the late John and Alvina (Maas) Hansen, was born September 30, 1933 in Battle Creek, Iowa where he grew up and graduated from high school. In 1953 at the age of 20, Ron enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until his retirement in 1973 after 20 years of service. He earned various awards and commendations for his faithful service. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. On January 20, 1965, Ron was united in marriage to Beatrice Pauline Franklin in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They shared over 37 years of marriage together before she preceded him in death on May 15, 2002. On May 30, 2003, Ron married Joann (Avis) Perry in Miami, Oklahoma. They shared over 5 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. After retiring from the military, Ron and his family moved to the Waynesville/St. Robert/Fort Leonard Wood area. In 1984, he began working for Bales Construction as a plumber. He continued working there until 1990. In his spare time, Ron enjoyed doing woodworking crafts. He was a member of the Francis J. Lynch VFW Post 3168 of Laquey, American Legion of St. Robert and the Disabled American Veterans. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. As a young man, Ron accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He and Joann were attending the Berean Baptist Church. Ron went home to be with his Lord Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the ae of 75 years, 6 months and 26 days. Ron will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his wife: Joann; five children: Mike Daughtery of the state of Florida, Patricia Havens and husband, Glen of San Diego, California, Lana Zollman and husband, John, and John Perry and wife, Susie all of Waynesville, and Dennis Perry and wife, Leah of the state of West Virginia; three siblings: Donald Hansen of the state of Florida, Roger Hansen and wife, Chris of the state of Iowa and Patty Nohrenberg and husband, Ray of the state of Nebraska; ten grandchildren: Michael, Christopher, Beth, Jill, Amy, John, Steven, Zach, Johnny, and Mandy; six great grandchildren: Jacob, John Philip, Gabriella, Garrett, Grant, Aidan and Emma; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in the Memorial Chapels of Waynesville/St. Robert with Rev. Scott Chastain and Rev. David Brown officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Amazing Grace” and “It Is Well With My Soul”. Serving as escorts were John Zollman, Sr., Zachary Perry, Johnny Perry, John Zollman, Jr., John Perry and Steven Zollman. Burial with military honors followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post 240 of Richland, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory.
