Susan M. Miller

Susan Ma`een Miller, daughter of the late Richard Eugene Cowan and Bobilea Sue McCrum Cowan was born April 30, 1958 in Garden City, Kansas, and graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in Kansas. Susan went on to further her education earning an associate’s degree. Susan moved to Western Kansas where she lived for nearly twenty years before moving to Warsaw and Clinton Missouri areas for a time; and later moved to Montrose, Missouri where she worked for two years. Susan worked in and out of the home. She worked as an office worker in a meat packing plant, owned and operated an Antique Shop, and was a cabinet maker; which is where she met her future husband. Susan and Vivian “Britt” Miller and were married on August 17, 2007 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Susan and Britt enjoyed over seventeen years of love, laughter, and many adventures as they traveled through life together before her passing. Susan loved her Britt and took good care of him. At a young age Susan had made a profession of faith. There are so many talents that Susan possessed, she was a wonderful homemaker, a treasure seeker of antiques and collectables, a crafter of most anything she could get her hands on, quilting, sewing, and Susan loved decorating for any holiday, especially at Christmas. She was a great Gardner, and shared fruits of her labor with her many friends. A dear friend of Susan’s stated that she gave more of herself than she ever got in return. Susan just loved life and people which it made it truly easy for her to pour into others around her. Susan was a life time member of the FORR L/28 - Freedom of Road Riders and held numerous offices down through the years. She loved going to Rallies! The love of the open road and riding her Harley brought Susan immense joy and pleasure. You might see her side car with a couple of her beloved grandkids, her dog, Sissy, or just packed full of things needed for a long road trip. Susan had the gift of gab and treasured times spent with her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her birth parents Richard Eugene Cowan, and Bobilea Sue (McCrum) Cowan; and her adopted father Robert Howard. Susan passed away on the morning of Monday, March 3, 2025, while at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, MO, having attained the age of 66, and leaves behind to cherish her memory husband, Vivian “Britt” Miller, of Montreal, MO; one daughter: Rebecca Graves (Jeff) of Clovis, NM; two step-children: David A. Miller, Sr., and Yvonne Drost; 7 grandchildren: Kasey Cortez, Brayden and Colby Carter, David A. Miller, Samantha Miller, “Katie” Parker, and Chase Summerfield; her step-father: Lloyd Skinner of Prairie Village, KS; one daughter-in-law: Diana Baker (Bengie) of the state of WI; very dear friends, Chuck and Becky Dunne of Richland, MO; and Susan’s beloved canine companion, Sissy; along with a host of other relatives, and many special friends. Susan’s sudden passing has left a hole in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. However, Susan’s beautiful smile and treasure chest of wonderful memories will remain forever. She may be gone but Susan is one who could never be forgotten until we see her again. A celebration of life service was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Jamie Roberts officiating. Long time friend, Mario Estrada AKA, “Penguin” shared his thoughts and memories of Susan. Special recorded music included, “Out In The Country,” “Time In A Bottle,” and “Ballard Of The Easy Rider.” A graveside service with family friend, Jamie Roberts to officiate was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery - Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Susan Miller and may be left at the Memorial Chapel of Richland.
