Walter Lee Perry

Walter Lee Perry, son of the late Ira Hugh Perry and Tomiko (Fujita) Perry, was born in El Paso, Texas on August 18, 1953. Due to his dad being in the military, Walter was an Army brat and most of his growing up years were spent in Hawaii and San Antonio, before the family settled in Waynesville, Missouri. Walter and his brother, Bob, enjoyed telling stories of their different duty stations and they were known to get in trouble together. They liked to pull pranks and if truth be told, Walter enjoyed doing that all throughout the rest of his life. Walter graduated from Waynesville High School and was proud of the fact that he was co-captain of Waynesville’s first wrestling team. After graduating from high school, Walter started his working years at the DOL in the weapons shop before switching to welding. He received several awards for his imagination and the ability to make it happen. He was a talented welder. Even after retiring, he still loved to weld and tinker. He had a whole shop set up at his friend, Mike Kindred’s farm. Walter also enjoyed fishing. He would fish any time that he could, especially with his best fishing buddy, his grandson Cayden who was his entire world. Walter loved his grandkids and showing up for them was of huge importance to him, whether it was at a baseball game or a recital, you could count on the fact that he would be there. Walter was a founding member of the Central Ozark Practical Shooters range. He spent many days on that range and enjoyed meeting all those that would come out to practice. Walter passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024 in the Mercy Hospital of Springfield, Missouri having attained the age of 70 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters: Jenette Richardson (Justin) of St. Robert, MO, and Lauren Pimentel (Jonathan) of Camdenton, MO; two grandchildren: Cayden Pimentel and Gabby Pimentel; one brother: Robert Perry (Sylvia) of Waynesville, MO; two sisters: Connie Perry and Janet Perry, both of San Antonio, TX; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his son, Ira L. Perry. Even though he is gone from our sight, Walter’s love for his family and his jovial spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held beginning at 4:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Walter Perry and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
