Wanda Faye (Decker) Henry

Wanda Faye Henry, one of seven children born to the late William and Lola (Powers) Decker, was born August 19, 1943 in the community of Bloodland, Missouri in Pulaski County (now a part of Ft. Leonard Wood.) She went home to be with her Lord May 6, 2009 in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 17 days. Wanda spent her childhood in Richland, Missouri, and graduated high school with the Class of 1961. As a young woman, Wanda accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in the Beulah Baptist Church near Richland. On April 25, 1961, Wanda was united in marriage with Lonnie Henry and they shared over 48 years together. Wanda and Lonnie were blessed with two daughters, Terri Lynn and Sherri Mae. Wanda is survived by her loving husband Lonnie; two daughters: Terri Henry and Sherri Brown, Springfield, MO; four grandchildren: Amanda Stark and husband Brad, Springfield, MO, Amber Thompson, Bentonville, AR, Robbie Brown and Reed Arnold, II, Springfield, MO; five great grandchildren: Trenton, Dakota, Peyton, Chase and Mercedes; sister-in-law: Evalyn (Decker) Sprucebank, Richland, MO; several nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Ashley Brown and six siblings: Kenneth, Roscoe, Bob and Billie Decker, Bertha Warren and an infant sister. Wanda was a treasured employee of the Springfield Wal-Mart Store #86 for 16 years. She was hard working and determined, and loved her Wal-Mart family as her own. She enjoyed fishing, playing music, gardening, spending time with her family and spoiling her grand and great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held May 9, 2009 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Richland with Rev. Christopher Hendrix officiating and the American Legion Post 240 Ladies Auxiliary Service with Chaplain Ilda V. Henley officiating Music selections included “Sissy”, “I’ll Fly Away”, “I Can Only Imagine” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Serving as escorts were: Brad Stark, Reed Arnold, Donald Decker’ Bill Decker, Al Decker, Craig Miller, Russell Holloway, James Jefferies, Robbie Brown, Warren Decker, Robert Decker, Mark Decker, Morris Decker, Rob Holloway and Virgil Jefferies. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Richland.
