William Dean "Bill" Skidmore Sr.

William Dean “Bill” Skidmore, Sr., son of the late Lacy George Skidmore and Mary Frances (Ashworth) Skidmore, was born March 6, 1949, in Waynesville, Missouri. As a young boy, Bill attended Laquey Elementary School before transferring to the Waynesville High School. Bill entered the United States Army for a very short time before being medically discharged. After his discharge from the military, Bill married Shirley Kensworthy and they were blessed with one daughter. In 1982, Bill married Michelle Femrite and they were blessed with three children. Most of Bill’s working years was spent as an auto mechanic, but he also did truck driving, auto towing and trailer home transporting. He also worked as a Missouri Trap Shoot mechanic. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed tinkering with stuff, going to auctions and was an avid reader. Most importantly, spending time with his family was a cherished moment for him because family was special to him. Bill passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, in the Mercy Hospital of Springfield, Missouri having attained the age of 73 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Bill leaves to cherish his memory, his four children: Patricia Levell of Marshall, TX, Billy Skidmore of Waynesville, MO, Keith Skidmore (Kayla) of Rogersville, MO, and Annie Ruth Crunk of Sullivan, MO; six grandchildren: Katie Levell, Kyle Levell, Alexander Skidmore, Alex Sharp, Aziza Hannigh, and Ana Blazer; one sister: Helena Miller of Richland, MO; two brothers: Lory Skidmore (Anna) of Laquey, MO and Daniel Skidmore (Tena) of Lagrange, GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one brother: Joseph Skidmore; and one sister: Agnes Martz. Celebration of Life services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022 in the Faith Baptist Church of Waynesville, Missouri with Pastor Danny Graves officiating. The songs “Amazing Grace” by Alan Jackson and “Mercy Walked In” by Danny Graves were played. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bill Skidmore and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
