Cathy Kim Carpenter

Cathy Kim Carpenter, daughter of Carl Showers and Jung Hi “Kim” Warwick, was born June 17, 1967 in Columbus, Georgia. Due to being a part of a military family, Cathy lived in several different places; Karlruhe, Germany, Ft. Carson, Colorado and eventually came to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Cathy graduated from high school and continued her education and earned her nursing degree, LPN. She served as a nurse with Harmonly Gleen Congregate Care in Tacoma, Washington, Sunset Village of the Ozarks in St. Robert, Missouri and served fourteen years with the Combine Troop Medical Clinic on Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. She loved serving people as a nurse and earned many awards and commendations for her excellent service. On February 21, 1997, Cathy was united in marriage to Michael Scott Carpenter in Tacoma, Washington. Two families were blended and Cathy and Mike shared six children: Matthew, Joshua, Patrick, Zachary, Kimberly and Seth. In her spare time, Cathy enjoyed reading and being outdoors while camping. Her pride and joy was her family and she loved them dearly. She took great pride in helping provide for her family and treasured the times spent with them. Cathy passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 in her home having attained the age of 48 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Cathy leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: Mike Carpenter of the home; her mother: Kim Warwick of Waynesville, MO; six children: Matthew Bigelow (Destini) of St. Robert, MO, Joshua Bigelow (Hannah) of Lebanon, MO, Patrick Carpenter (Jamie) of Waynesville, MO, Zachary Bigelow of Fountain, CO, Kimberly Bigelow of St. Robert, MO and Seth Carpenter (Jenn) of St. Robert, MO; fifteen grandchildren: Trinity, Joshua, Matthew Jr., Justice, Isabella, Silas, Landon, Ava, Maddison, Patrick, Tristan, Ethan, Isaiah, Cambry and Lexi ; other relatives and friends. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Christopher Hendrix officiating. The songs “Open Arms” by Journey, “Nothing Compares to You” by Sinead O’Connor and “Comin’ Home” by City and Colour were played.
