Derrel Freeman Coffman

Derrel F. Coffman, son of Freeman R. Coffman and Mattie (Henson) Coffman was born February 12, 1955 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Derrel grew up in the Richland community were he attended elementary and Richland High School. Derrel accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was confirmed in the Richland United Methodist Church. Derrel served in the United States Army. He was proud of his service to our country. After his time in the Army, Derrel received his C.D.L. license through Jay Enterprises, Inc. Truck Driving School. Derrel also received a certificate in Heliarc Welding from the Graff Area Vocational Technical Center in Springfield, MO. He attended Ralyn’s Cosmetology School. He was currently employed at Laclede Industries of Lebanon where he had many friends. Derrel had many different interests and talents. He enjoyed fishing, float trips on the Gasconade River, bowling, playing checkers with his Dad, and telling a good joke or two. His greatest love was Country-Western music. He loved playing the guitar and singing for many family and friends. One of his favorites was “Rocky Top.” Derrel departed this life early Sunday morning, November 7, 2010, at the Gaslight Manor in Lebanon, Missouri, were he has made his home since 2003. He attained the age of 55 years, 8 months and 23 days. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Derrel was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his parents, Freeman and Mattie Coffman of Richland; his son, Bobby Ryan of Springfield; his sister and brother-in-law, Myrna and Sherman Deberry of Richland; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary Lee and Melody Coffman of Portland, Oregon; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 10, 2010, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Brother Lee Todd & Rev. Michael Davis officiating. Special music selections included "In The Garden", "Mansion Over The Hilltop" and Derrel's favorite song, "Rocky Top". Serving as escorts were Sam Boyd, Steve Boyd, Jade Henson, Gene Boyd, Kerry Curran and Mike Wilson. Honorary escorts were Ray Boyd, Gary Coffman, Sherman Deberry, Dennis McMath, Freeman Coffman, David Deberry and Rev. Michael Davis. Burial followed in the Wair Chapel Cemetery near Richland, Missouri with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 240 of Richland. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. The Coffman Family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Heart Association.
