Army Veteran, Gary Lee Miller

Gary Lee Miller, a cherished member of our community, was born to Claude Harrison Miller and Ester (Groves) Miller on the family’s farm near Falcon, Missouri, June 19, 1932. In 1942 the family moved to a farm in Richland, Missouri. He attended school and graduated from the Stoutland High School Class of 1952. He made a profession of faith at a young age. Gary loved his Lord and Savior. He was a greatly loved member of Eureka Baptist Church in Richland, Missouri. Gary married the love of his life, Lille Mae (Sauls) on November 1, 1958 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Together they shared over 48 wonderful years together while creating lasting cherished memories. Gary’s love was evident in every moment spent together until Lillie’s passing on January 7, 2007. After graduation, Gary was drafted into the United States Army where he faithfully and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge. Gary then went on to begin his long career as a Civil Service Employee in the states of Texas, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, before ending his career in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Gary, then returned home to the family farm in Richland, for the remainder of his years. Gary was known to be a die-hard Arkansas Razor Back Football Fan! He also enjoyed watching the KC Chiefs and college football. Gary enjoyed being outside, whether farming, fishing, or gardening. He would often speak of the times he enjoyed sitting with Bill Clinton, and Sam Walton. Throughout his life, Gary demonstrated an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His warm smile, gentle demeanor, and genuine concern for others made him a beloved figure in our hearts. Gary peacefully left us on the evening of Wednesday, June 25, 2525, surrounded by loved ones, having attained the age of 93. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, two brothers, Donald Miller (Adel) of the Philippines and Stanley Miller (Margie) of Richland, MO; one sister, Jane Lusk (Jimmie) of Richland, MO; two sisters-in-laws, Mary Jo Miller-Brown of Richland, MO, and Ione Miller of Sterling, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, including Shannon Shepherd (Darcy) who Gary lived with, and their daughters, Hillary and Hannah (Joel) of Richland, MO; his canine companion, Butch; and a host of other relatives, and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Claude (1965) and Ester (1973) and beloved wife, Lillie (2007), two brothers, Ralph Miller (2004) and Robert Miller (2013), three sisters, Marjorie Priest (2019), Wanda Shepherd (1999), and Claudeva Miller (1936). Gary lived a life filled with kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. His legacy of compassion and integrity will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, the memories of his love and laughter will remain forever. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Services with military honors were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2025, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor Doug Jacobson officiating. Recorded music selections included, “Amazing Grace,” and “In The Garden.” Inurnment will be in the Wair-Dowty Chapple Cemetery near Richland, MO. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorial contributions may be made to Wair-Dowty Chapple Cemetery in memory of Gary Lee Miller and may be left at the Memorial Chapel of Richland.
