John Eric Day

John Eric Day, son of the late Gordon Victor and Beatrice (Wilson) Day, was born November 17, 1966 in Sedalia, Missouri. He spent part of his growing up years in Sedalia and then the family moved to the Waynesville / Richland area where he remained until moving to Arkansas to be with his brother’s family. While living in the Richland area, Eric worked for a time with Laclede Industries Sheltered Workshop and enjoyed assembling items and visiting with the other workers. Eric was a very loveable man, but also very mischievous in the sense that he loved to tease and pick on people. He liked to make people laugh. Eric enjoyed going to church, hearing the preaching of the Word and singing. He loved Southern Gospel Music, but he especially enjoyed Christy Lane. Eric loved the color red and would choose all things red, even if he didn’t like the product. Eric made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as a young boy and was baptized. He was currently attending Canaan Baptist Church in Harold, Arkansas with his brother Brent and his family. Eric went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in the Mercy Hospital of Hot Springs, Arkansas having attained the age of 45 years, 9 months and 11 days. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Eric leaves to cherish his memory four siblings: Brent Day (Sheila) of Fordyce, AR, Laura Matthews (Trent) of St. James, MO, Nathan Day (Sarah) of Hot Springs, AR and Quintin Day (Vicki) of Lebanon, MO; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Eric was also preceded in death by one sister: Carolyn Wyatt. Funeral services were held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Keith Carnahan officiating. Music was provided by the family and the congregation sang Eric’s favorite hymn “Victory in Jesus”. Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Jacksonville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Eric Day and may be left at the funeral home.
