Letty Mae Williams

Letty Mae Williams, 82 of Crocker passed from this life the morning of Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in her granddaughter’s home. Daughter of William Wagner and Lennie Schultz Wagner, Letty Mae was born May 1, 1929 in Bloodland, Missouri. She was the next to the youngest of 11 children. Letty Mae attended Tribune, Missouri school and later on went to graduate from Dixon, Missouri High School in 1946. Letty Mae was an extremely hard worker throughout her years. She was a waitress around this area for many of her earlier years. She then worked at a boat factory in Richland, Missouri and moved on to Eldon, Missouri to work for another boat factory, where she later became a supervisor while there. Finally, in her last working years, she was a 1st cook for the Army soldiers at EDP Enterprises in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. She retired in 1991, becoming a homemaker. Then, she decided she wasn’t quite content, so she worked for Richland Care Center as a dishwasher for a short time. Letty Mae was a very outgoing person who had many friends throughout the years. She had a laugh that no other could mock. She was well known to her grandchildren as “ma ma”, and in fact raised her granddaughter, Jessica Mae. She enjoyed sewing and made many outfits for Joey and Donna to wear to school when they were younger. She absolutely loved shopping and going to yard sales. She could never have enough clothes or shoes. One of her greatest characteristics was her unselfishness. She always had someone else in mind. If she thought it was a bargain and someone she knew could get some use out of it, whatever it might have been, then she bought it. Letty Mae will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving companion of the last 33 years: Carl Tanner, one son: Joey Ray Williams; one daughter: Donna Sue Williams (Barnfield) and her husband Bruce; one brother: Marion Wagner; five grandchildren: Jessica Mae Williams (Tinder) and her husband Chris, David Leroy Williams, Bruce Blair Barnfield, Shauna LaChance, and Leann LaChance (Barber); 12 great grandchildren: Kyle Christopher Tinder, Brooklynn Mae Tinder, Kyle Lee Alan Laws, Westen Lee Williams, Shaylin Deborah Williams, Taylor LaChance, Isak LaChance, Samuel LaChance (Pinion), Seth LaChance (Pinion), Nathaniel LaChance, Mariah LaChance, and Kira LaChance; several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth Leroy Williams; her parents: William and Lennie (Schultz) Wagner; seven brothers: John, Ben, Vick, Floyd (Dutch), Claude and Alvie; three sisters: Dora, Emma, and Opal; and one great grandson: Tylor Jacob LaChance. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Christopher Hendrix officiating. Chris Tinder, Letty’s grandson-in-law, read a beautiful poem in honor of Letty. The songs “I Can Only Imagine”, “Amazing Grace” and “Seven Spanish Angels” was played. Serving as escorts were Joey Williams, Chris Tinder, David Williams, Mike Lane, Bruce Barnfield and Blair Barnfield. Serving as honorary escorts were Carl Tanner and Kyle Tinder. Burial followed in the Crocker Memorial Park of Crocker, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Letty Mae Williams and may be left at the funeral home.
