Margaret Lucille Southard

Margaret Lucille Southard, daughter of the late Clayton L. and Mamie (Anglin) Harrington, was born December 1, 1941 in Nunnelly, Tennessee where she grew up and attended school. On January 30, 1960, Margaret was united in marriage to Ralph Clinton Southard, who was a United States Army soldier. They were married at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and shared the next 51 years together before he passed away on July 24, 2011. Due to Ralph being in the military, Margaret and the family moved several times and they were eventually stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. At that time, Margaret, who had earned her GED diploma, went on to further her education and obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Management from Park University. Margaret was a hard working woman. She loved helping people, and because of her degree was able to work as a nurse in several nursing homes in the area (Life Care Center, Sunset Village of the Ozarks and Piney Ridge). She became the director of adult daycare at “Choices for People” in Waynesville and retired in 2009. After her retirement, Margaret was able to enjoy more of the things that she liked to do. One of those things was going to the Lake and her and Ralph moved to Linn Creek, Missouri so they could enjoy the Lake more. Margaret loved to fish, work in her gardens, and watch birds. She was an avid bird figurine collector and reader. Most importantly, she treasured spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and she would also have a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye when she was around them. Margaret passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in her home having attained the age of 72 years, 11 months and 3 days. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Melissa Wilson and husband Sean of Crocker, MO, Timothy Southard and wife, Nikki of Lebanon, MO and Jerry C. Southard and wife Wendy of Crocker, MO; four siblings: Harry Harrington of Centerville, TN, Jesse Harrington of Nashville, TN, Francis Campbell of Centerville, TN and Geneva Buchner of Cumberland Gap, TN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by one sister, Bonnie Tucker. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland of Richland, Missouri with Pastor Doug Jacobson officiating. The songs “Amazing Grace” by Elvis, “Sissy’s Song” by Alan Jackson, “Voice of Truth” by Casting Crowns and “The Dance” by Garth Brooks were played. Serving as escorts were Tim Southard, Sean Wilson, Chance Southard, Zac Helms, Michael Rosencrans, Jason Brandon, Jerry Southard and Drew Lowe. Burial followed in the Freedom Cemetery near Linn Creek, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
