Paula Jean Rider

Paula Jean Rider, daughter of the late Grady and Pauline (Carruth) Pendergrass, was born on August 6, 1948 in the state of Oregon. Paula grew up however attending schools in California. She later moved into the Branson/Hollister area where she lived for several years before moving to Richland, Missouri in the nineties. In 1964 Paula married Gary Lynn Rider in Richmond, California, and five children were born to this union. The couple later divorced and remained friends until Gary’s death in 2008. She was a member of the Lions club in Napa, California. Paula took great pride in raising and caring for her family and home. She and Gary owned and operated their own print shop business for several years. In Paula’s spare time you could find her basking in the sun at the lake. However, she treasured the times spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Paula was always ready to lend an ear or helping hand to anyone in need. Paula passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri having attained the age of 67 years. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Paula leaves behind to cherish her memory three children: Sydney C. Rider and wife, Joyce of Richland, Missouri, Anthony L. Rider and wife, Vicky of Sacramento, CA and Tuesday L. Martin and husband, Anthony of Galt, California; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Grady Pendergrass and one sister, Janis Theodosie both of California; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Paula was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ronnie Carruth and Freddie Pendergrass; two sisters, Diane Moitoza and Katie Perry; two beloved children, Gary Rider Jr. in 1965 and Tracy Rider in 2009. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor Chuck Baker officiating. Favorite music selections included "Blessed Assurance," "In the Garden" and "I Want to Stroll Over Heaven with You." Serving as escorts were Dale Cohen, Sr., John Mayor, John Huff, Andy Rosack, Jesse Nelson and Damon Cohen. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Paula Jean Rider and may be left at the Memorial Chapel of Richland.
