Wanda Lathrom

Wanda Lee Lathrom, daughter of Claude Everett Lathrom and Bertha Mae (Royal) Lathrom Brown was born October 28, 1930 in Wright County near Mountain Grove, Missouri. Wanda spent her early years in the Mountain Grove area. At age ten she enrolled in the State School located in Marshall, Missouri. While in Marshall her unique talents began to emerge. While attending school in Marshall she learned many life skills. They trained her as a caregiver for the elderly which fit perfectly with her loving and caring personality. She served as caregiver for two retired school teachers over the years. While in Marshall, Wanda became involved in her church. She was saved and baptized while attending the First Baptist Church of Marshall, which she remained a member up until her death. Wanda later moved to Sweet Springs Villa in Sweet Springs, Missouri after having a stroke in 1990. For the past 21 years she has made the Villa home. She was greatly loved and was very involved in their daily activities. She liked to watch her favorite “Soap Operas’”, and play BINGO, the staff always laughed about whether Wanda enjoyed BINGO that much or the fact that popcorn was always served. When her health allowed she liked to embroidery. Those that took time to know Wanda were greatly blessed by her genuine love, humor and personality. She will be greatly missed by her family, along with the staff and residents of the “Villa”. Wanda went to be with her Lord Monday morning, October 11, 2010, at Sweet Springs Villa Nursing Home, Sweet Springs, Missouri. With her loving sister Marjorie and brother-in-law Norman at her side. Ms. Lathrom is survived by her sister: Marjorie Stoll and her husband Norman of Laquey, MO; one brother: Don Lathrom and his wife Margaret of Clarence, MO; several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters and three brothers. Graveside services were held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the Buckhorn Cemetery of Waynesville with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Wanda Lathrom to the Buckhorn Cemetery Fund or the Preferred Hospice of Missouri.
